I’m going to share with you one of the easiest things that you can do to heal or overcome a chronic pain condition. It also happens to be free.  It’s resting.

Now, I know that resting or getting sufficient, adequate sleep is easier said than done. But if you are somebody that doesn’t have any problems, you want to give yourself distraction-free meditation time, a nap, or even sleep.

That means absolutely no phones and no scrolling on your social media apps during your designated resting time.  I understand that we’re all guilty of spending a little too much time on our phones and on social media, including myself, but it’s so important to step away.

When you rest, your body immediately goes to work for you. It rebuilds and repairs all over the disrepair that happens in your body on a normal, everyday basis.  It’s your chance to recharge.

But if you’re also somebody that is suffering from spinal pain, migraines, vertigo, fibromyalgia or you have a chronic pain condition, you may live in a state of pain, fear and inflammation every single day. You understand what a state of disrepair your body is in, and you feel it.  So when you give yourself that time to get adequate rest and sufficient sleep, you’re helping your body heal yourself.

Of course, there’s a lot more that goes into healing the body, but rest is one of the most important steps you can take, and one of the easiest, depending on your situation.  Plus, of course, it’s free.

It’s also something that most people completely take for granted.  We always encourage our patients here in the office to definitely make sure that they’re getting rest at home, and also have them rest right here in our office and our zero-gravity chairs after their adjustments.
