As we age, the fluid within our inner ears which help us maintain balance can crystallize. If these crystals become dislodged, during a change in head position, or even from simply rising from bed, an episode of vertigo may be triggered.
Symptoms experienced during a vertigo attack can be extremely debilitating as the individual currently experiencing an episode often is not able to function normally throughout their day due to extreme dizziness, nausea, and balance issues. This includes driving, reading, writing, working, or even getting out of bed. Those with vertigo are typically frustrated as not only are they unable to normally function during an episode, there are little to no long term treatment options for vertigo.
